Languedoc is an area of France with one of the largest selections of grape varieties. This beautiful blend has a significant amount of 4 different grapes creating a full and complex wine. With this blending, it is possible to have a wine with many appealing attributes on the palate such as Black Pepper, Dark Fruits and Vanilla. If you are grilling or roasting, this is your go to wine.
For years we have been working with producers in Bordeaux and Provence and monthly would pass through the Languedoc area to see the winemakers and growers. During one of these trips we had an Oenologist with us who grew up outside of Toulouse and worked with wineries in the Languedoc area early in his career. We stopped for lunch and he recognized this wine on the list. It is fantastic and unique and we were lucky as it was also available when we asked if we could include it in our box.
The Languedoc-Roussillon wine area is the largest in the world and it extends along the Mediterranean from the Rhone Delta down to the foot of the Pyrenees. It is also the oldest area of growing in France. It is an area of great pride and individual heritage that stands with and apart at times from the other regions of France. The wines are just as interesting and bold as the people.
